CANARREOS

Avalon Canarreos

Since the early 2000's Avalon has been operating two unique destinations in the Canarreos archipelago. In 2022, Avalon has developed a program combining the best of both the Isla de Juventud and Cayo Largo fisheries from a single live aboard yacht. With this new undertaking we strive to achieve a paradise that fishermen can enjoy with a variety of fishing opportunities to satisfy the most discerning of interests.

Around the Cayo Largo area you can target plentiful populations of bonefish and permit on endless white sand and turtle grass flats. To the west among the various cayos of Isla de Juventud, you will find an extensive mangrove and reef system full of tarpon and snook. With the ability to move in between these areas, the fishing is always fresh and exciting.

Fish during the day and relax while watching an incredible sunset in style and comfort in one of the most beautiful pristine natural environments in the world. When you combine this stunning eco system with the personal touch and excellent service that Avalon is renowned for, our 30 years of experience in providing top notch fly fishing trips you are guaranteed a great experience.

Avalon is one of the few companies in the world that can offer its guests the unique ability to fish in a completely exclusive marine park, free of commercial fishermen, nets or any skiffs or yachts from other companies.

Think about the incredible possibilities of having all those nautical kilometers to yourself and being able to choose the species and the places you want to fish, without any fuel limitation during your fishing week.

Guests can expect the following species when fishing with Avalon at Canarreos: Permit, Bonefish (large ones), Tarpon, Jack Crevalle, Barracudas, Mutton Snapper, Snooks, etc..

The bounty of nature found at Canarreos is a well-kept secret. It has a pristine coral reef flanked by mangrove keys and islands with unparalleled nursery habitat for a whole host of fish species. This is is complemented by neighboring keys inhabited by numerous species of flora and fauna, among them iguanas, pelicans and turtles.

The Canarreos season runs from October through mid February and features consistent fishing for all target species and opportunities for Grand Slams and Super Grand Slams every day! This is a really nice time to plan a trip to Canarreos, as the weather is much warmer in Cuba than in Europe or Northern America.

Our high season from mid February through July offers stable and perfect fishing conditions with all species present. During this period we bring a second live aboard yacht into the archipelago to service the two distinct programs of Cayo Largo and Isla de Juventud. These programs afford the most convenient logistics and ease of access to the most productive fishing areas in all of Cuba.
